  As in previous year, the rental was clean with all neecessary cooking gear, except for a potato peeler. The room was comfortable and the wifi work well. The loding staff quickly replaced the water cooler water when we asked. The location was excellent as we walked to the lifts and came back to the rental unit for lunch and dinner. We dicovered a few ladybugs in the kitchen lamp and left a note with the staff. We left our recyables (bottles and cans). We are unsure if these would be recycle. In the future, the unit should state if they could be recycled and if not, we would gladly take them home for recycling. Overall it was another good experience.

  Never having been to Big Powderhorn Mts, my grandsons and I were looking forward to a quick ski, board get-away. We were not disappointed, although who can predict 55 degree days and rain which changes the snow conditions. We loved walking to the lifts. Hugel Haus was ideal for our mini-vacation.   Perfect location.very comfortable,good bedding and pillows, well stocked kitchen, ample room for 2-4 people, great view of the resort, all good. There were some annoying sounds from the ceiling, probably mechanical, no big deal when TV could drown them out. The comfort, view, and cleanliness were very much appreciated for our two night stay. The skiing was superb! The staff at the lifts were extraordinarily good and welcoming.

  The unit was in a nice location and had a nice view of the hill. Overall, the unit was nice with some flaws but a bit pricey. It was attached to the unit nextdoor via an interior door. This was nice for letting our kids hang out with their grandparents.
  
  The place was small, but nicely decorated for a cabin. Many kitchen dishes were dirty in the kitchen cupboards, but that's not uncommon for a rental without a dishwasher. I'm not sure that management is aware, but there's an issue with the bedroom lights. They often turn on when the upstairs unit operates their lights and vice versa. This caused a problem for us as we have young kids that take naps so the lights would turn on randomly.
  
  An annoyance is that there was not enough parking at the unit. I think some of the neighboring units brought more than one vehicle so when we came back there was no place to park. There were 12 vehicles that I counted (should be 8). We had to park in my parents who had a separate unit.
  
  A big disappointment was with the swimming pool. It was supposed to open at 4:30 pm on Saturday. We called the day before to verify this. We arrived to the pool with my young kids ready to swim, but it was not open. There was another group of kids waiting too. Apparently the staff member did not show up. No-one could get in contact with her. I had to keep talking to the bar staff who were busy with other things asking about if the pool was going to open or not. Finally, a different staff member opened up the pool about 45 minutes late after we had been told that it wasn't going to open. Then 15 minutes after that the staff member that was supposed to be there came.
  Pool was nice, but no hot showers after and locker rooms were very cold. A hot tub would be a good addition.

  Great location! Unit was clean except for some of the dishes (felt greasy), and the blinds were broken, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars for the condition of the unit. The unit was well laid out and well equipped - bed and futon are really really "firm" :(
  We'd definitely come back to Hugel House but would probably rent an upstairs unit. The people above us checked in around 11 pm and moved furniture around half the night. They were still moving around at 3 a.m.

  My big complaint would be the cleaning of the dishes situation. Especially given Covid, guests should not walk into a place with every dish disgustingly dirty. Just because you put a sign out that says maids don’t do dishes doesn’t mean it’s not your responsibility to make sure we don’t have to wash all the dishes upon entering. They were seriously disgusting. All covered in old food. We bought paper products just to avoid the mess in the cupboards. Figure it out.

  The Hugel Haus complex is just across the street from the caribou lodge and just a short walk to the ski hill. There were just two people in our party so one got the bedroom and other(me) the futon in the front room. The comfort of the futon was adequate and about what you'd expect from a futon. The unit has the basic essentials for dishes, eating utensils, and cookware. The bathroom looked to have been recently updated and seemed to have plenty of hot water. When I made the reservation, I was expecting basic, clean accommodations and that's exactly what we experienced. The only two minor annoyances for me were the intermittent noisy plumbing in the ceiling and the electric fireplace ( I just prefer real fire :-) I would like to make the suggestion they provide a drop box for keys for an early checkout. I was told I could just leave the keys in the unit to check out earlier but the door requires the key to lock it from the outside and I did not feel comfortable leaving the unit unlocked when we left.

  We really enjoyed our stay at Big Powerderhorn Mountain. The Hugel Haus 8 was in a great location to the ski hill ... we could walk right to the chair lift! Only issue would be that #8 is a lower unit so you can hear anyone upstairs. You can also hear the when they run the water & flush the toilet as it sounds like water rushing through the wall. The lodging staff were great ... they even called to check on us as the roads on our arrival day were bad.

  Over all we had a great time. We were surprised by the nice clean and cozy interior of our one bedroom condo at the Hugel House. At first look of the exterior we weren't sure. It had all the amenities that we needed for our stay. It is a great place for anyone who has a group of 4 or less. It was very close to the lodge and walking to the hill was a breeze. The bed and futon were comfortable. We found the kitchen had all of the supplies we needed to cook meals. Now for the bad. We stayed in a downstairs unit which was great for unloading all of our stuff, but the noise from upstairs was unbearable for sleeping. I think the group upstairs must have had 5 kids who sounded like a heard of elephants the first night. You could literally hear every step. Falling asleep was impossible until they finally got to bed. They checked out the second night but the new people who came in did not get in until late and they kept us up as well. There is another fun issue with noise in the bedroom while sleeping as well. Every time the toilet is flushed upstairs a loud waterfall sound from the soil pipe fills the room. There must not be any insulation around it in the wall. We also had problems with the main sliding entry door opening and closing. My 7 year old could barely budge it. Getting all the gear in and out was difficult with the door being that difficult to open and close. Overall I would recommend this to anyone who has a small group. It was very clean and convenient to the hill. Staying upstairs might be more comfortable if you don't mind lugging your gear up a flight of stairs. If you have kids (or adults that act like kids) please remember that the people downstairs can hear your every move.

  It's not ski in, ski out, but it is definitely the next best thing! Just a short walk to the beautiful lodge and lifts. Very comfortable bed, nice furnishings. No dishwasher, but good dishwashing equipment. Electric fireplace and big-screen T.V. adds a nice touch.
