  No longer a ski-in/ski-out as the run/lift was not available. Property was not to blame, rather the resort that chose not to open/groom the run/man the lift. The cabin was lovely, clean, well-stocked, hot tub a huge plus, we had a nice break from the grind of work.

  Number one, the closest lift to our lodging was never running while we were there. barely enough vertical drop to get speed to get to the lift that was running. Up stair guest (actually the owners of the unit) were way to LOUD we paid alot of money to have a peaceful weekend in a tranquil setting and the loud footsteps and general noise from above was unsettling.

  It was a perfect location for our group of 6- 4 adults, 2 youth and 1 Great Dane! The chalet was equipped with a full kitchen and extra bedding was available. The remodeled kitchen and bathroom were extra nice and easy to keep clean. We enjoyed the hot tub every night. It was toasty warm so we didn’t even have a fire, but the wood was waiting and it looked very inviting. We all thought the chalet in the woods but right on the slopes was a dream come true. No contact checkin was easy with the lockbox and the email in advance to explain that. Thank you.

  The rental is in a perfect location and is very cozy. Has nice windows overlooking the hill. The hottub was great. There was several things needing fixing, stove didn't heat up well, garbage disposal clogged and the firebox belched back smoke like it was also clogged. We really enjoyed our stay as ski/in out was great. We had awesome weather and love Powderhorn.

  We rented this house for a long weekend with our adult kids. The view was awesome. The access to the ski hill was perfect. The house could use a good cleaning as there were dust bunnies everywhere. It’s amazing what a bit of an update to the decor could do for this place. The light fixture in the main bedroom had broken glass, the living room carpet was full of burn marks from the fireplace. That being said we would stay here again due to the fact that they allowed our dogs to be with us which is a huge selling point. Overall it was a good stay.

  Pictures do it justice. What you see and read is exactly what you get. Ski In/Out! Classic ski lodge feel. Plenty of room for my 9 and 12 year old girls and our dog. We not only had BPM as our playground, but the property is surrounded by trees and large snow piles. Kids enjoyed playing just outside the house as much as the skiing. Was lucky enough to share the same weekend with the property owners who were in the upstairs unit. Fantastic host! I’d not only recommend this to someone, I will be returning, next year.

  Everything was as expected. Glad we could bring our dog. The hot water had a sulfur smell but it was still usable. The chair lifts are the historic kind with a pole in the middle of the seat and no safety bar. This made it a little difficult for us to bring the 4 year old and 2 year old on the lifts. The lift operators did the best they could to help us load the kids.

  We really enjoyed our experience at Base Camp 1. Nice place, clean, everything you really need. Perfect size for 4 people. Kitchen is set up for any kind of cooking. The ski in/ski out is pretty nice too. Hot tub was nice at the end of the day too. To top it off, I left one of my boards there, and they contacted me about it, and someone from the lodge brought it to Duluth for me, as they were coming there anyway. What service! Only suggestion we would give is to have more hooks/racks to hang snow/ski clothes to hang and dry.

  The stay was fine. The property was well equipped. The decor was dated, but well maintained.
  If you are staying in the summer, bring bottled water as the water has a sulfur/rotten egg odor. (Reason for 4-star overall rating.)
  Due to the length of our stay, it was cheaper to rent here than several hotels. When you take into account you have a full kitchen to prepare meals the daily costs are much cheaper than a hotel. We even grilled steaks on the charcoal grill provided.

  Reserving the site was easy enough. And The management team at Powderhorn contacted me almost immediately after booking online to confirm our stay, offer directions, and answer questions.
  Cabin has a great layout, with true ski in/out accommodations. WiFi is strong. Parking is ample. And overall cleanliness upon entry was outstanding.
  We skied Powderhorn, Indianhead, Blackjack, and day-tripped to the Porkies with ease. Groceries are right down the road (Walmart style).
  We will be booking there again. And may possibly look to rent the upper unit as well. Doing so would easily accommodate two families of four (with room for more). Thanks for a great stay!!!

  My family had a wonderful stay at Basecamp 1. Relaxing, lots of laughs. We enjoyed all the hiking trais in the area. Basecamp 1 is clean, made many meals in the kitchen.

  The cabin was everything that was described. It was a 100' from a chair lift. Everything inside was clean and in good working order. Beds were a little outdated but clean. Only complaint is Big Powderhorn's website. It suggests/implies that lift tickets are included with your stay...they are not. Not a big deal but it should be clearly stated that they are not included.

  Upon our arrival we were very happy to see that base camp 1 had been recently updated. The kitchen area and bathroom were brand new. We loved the convenience of the ski hill and chair lift right in our backyard. Views were awesome and the fact that we could bring the dogs made it possible for our whole family to vacation together for the first time in a long time. Slopes were well groomed and the chair lift operators friendly and helpful. Unanimous family vote to return next year for more fun!!!

  Remodeled and in great condition. Could not really ski in - ski out as easily as it would seem. Guests upstairs drunk sounded like they were coming through the ceiling all night. Not much for sound proofing. Would book 1&2 together with another family rather than deal with all night partiers upstairs. Very clean and nice though and staff was great to work with.
